New Technology, Meh, Who Needs It? You Do!
You don’t need to run around and install every new APP that comes along. But certain things do need to be updated regularly on your computer systems. Think of your computer like a car. If you don’t get regular oil changes your car will be sluggish, not run real well and eventually wear out a lot faster than if it had the oil changes. Your computer needs the latest updates in software to run efficiently. Most programs should be updated monthly including Windows, macOS and iOS. When companies detect a weakness in their software they release updates to fix it and help keep out hackers. Antivirus programs should be updated regularly as well.
Your computer is only going to last three to five years as it is, due to ‘planned obsolescence’. Keeping the technology current can help the length of your computer’s life. Now, let’s go ‘old school’ for a sec and talk about, yes, power surges. Power surges have been around since electricity was invented. You can probably look around your office right now and count several power strips that act as power surge protectors. Here’s the bad news. Those power surge protectors can and do fail. Let’s go back to the car analogy. The car has now hit a power pole with an electric transformer on it. Your power goes out. That transformer will now try to reset itself three times. Every time it tries to reset it sends a big surge of power to your puny power strips. By the third time, your power strips have given up the ghost and most, if not all, of that power roars into your computers. Goodbye, hard drive.
But here’s the good news. All I.T. can add a total building surge system that buffers all of those surges. And, it’s only a couple of hundred bucks. Not only that, but All I.T offers a program that will update all of your programs regularly. They’re good, they’re fast and they’ll take care of all that stuff you forget about doing!
